The
entrepreneurial overview of the Bouchard family in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean development
is due to the socioeconomic contribution of "ambassadors" who were involved
in its key socioeconomic sectors since the foundation of this area. In this view,
major figures appear: Roger Bouchard at Saint-Fulgence-de-l'Anse-aux-Foins and his
sons Toussaint (at Saint-Félicien) and Sylvestre (at Roberval) as well as
entrepreneurial initiatives brought by over twenty pioneers in the Saguenay (Grande-Baie,
Bagotville, Chicoutimi, Laterrière, Jonquière, Sainte-Anne-du-Saguenay,
Saint-Charles-de-Bourget, Saint-Fulgence) and in the Lake Saint John (Saint-Jérome-de-Métabetchouan,
Saint-Bruno, Roberval, Sainte-Hedwidge, Saint-Félicien, Lac-Bouchette, Sainte-Monique-de-Honfleur,
Saint-Coeur-de-Marie and Alma).
These
pioneers gave way to distinguished representatives of entrepreneurship, sociopolitical
and cultural involvement: the merchants (J.H. Brassard), the manufacturers (Adjutor
Bergeron, Bétons préfabriqués du Lac, STAS, TransGesco, ProSag
mécanique, Constructions MétalBaie et Toiles Auvents Sainte-Monique),
the food and potato producers and processors (Ferme Gaston Bouchard, Propur), the
transportation companies (Alma Autobus & Taxis, Transport Jean-Guy Fortin), the
real estate constructions firms (Groupe Secto, J.A. Belley), the distributors (Potvin
& Bouchard, Géant Motorisé, Pneus R. Guay, Produits municpaux BCM,
SPI sécurité) as well as professional organizations (Techmat, Groupe
ID, Phosalac).
Among
other "ambassadors" of entrepreneurship are doctor Adélard Bouchard,
the healer Hercule Bouchard, the midwifes (Émérentienne and Elmire
Bouchard), the politicians (Benoit Bouchard, Lucien Bouchard and Bernard Lord) and
cultural figures (Ghislain and Michel-Marc Bouchard). |
