|SAGAMIE is a centre for research
and production specializing in contemporary digital arts such as computer graphics,
digital photography and large format digital printing up to 60 inches wide. Each
year in its residency program, the centre welcomes more than 50 artists from all
over Quebec, Canada and abroad.
ARTISTIC ORIENTATION: Centre SAGAMIE is interested in research projects that
show innovative concern for the medium, that question photographic and pictorial
space and that generate new links with other areas of contemporary art such as installation,
scenography, art integrated into architecture, performance, exterior interventions,
painting, drawing, printmaking and so on.
Centre SAGAMIE gives the artist in residence free access to specialized equipment
and the technical support (one fulltime technician per artist) necessary to carry
out his/her art project. As well, the centre will reimburse the artist $200 for travel
expenses, and provide free printing tests and the equivalent of $150 for final prints
on a chosen support. This artist also benefits from a special rate for digital printing
(ask for our price list). A residency at the centre is a short sojourn to do research
and experiment; however, the stay can be extended if a project requires it.
Centre SAGAMIE supports artists in the early stages of their careers and has a
separate category for artists under 35 years old.
